Valda Burleigh

ADELAIDE

Master of Counselling Practice (current)

Valda’s interest is in helping people in general to overcome the obstacles that prevent them living a fulfilling life. She continually attempts to look for and cultivate understanding in her own life and in the lives of others. Her belief is that calling forth strengths and encouraging understanding in others are stepping stones that help motivate them to get unstuck and move forward positively.

Valda believes that her role is to walk alongside clients, assist them in a process to discern and detangle the issues that prevent fulfillment; and to help them to understand from their perspective what they need in order to thrive with greater wholeness.

Valda has had experience working as a Carer in a Nursing Home, Registered Nurse in Critical Care, and a self-employed Home Baker. She is married with three older children, grew up in the Latvian cultural community, and Christian faith informs her life.

“Life does not consist mainly- or even largely- of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that are forever blowing through one’s mind.”- Mark Twain.
