Richard has worked for over 20 years in the areas of Youth Work, Pastoral Care, Community Development and Community Health and now enters into the realm of formal Counselling. Richard has a strong empathy for anyone who has experienced grief, trauma and isolation due to their circumstances in life and in that comes from a perspective that every person is important, has something to give to others and deserves the utmost dignity and respect. Because of this Richard greatly values listening and hearing a person’s story and then utilising the skills of Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy to facilitate the therapeutic process.
'True Charity' is not just helping another person but indeed walking alongside them in respectful empathy, learning their story and what they have to give and utmost being willing to receive from them just as much and/or more than you are prepared to give.
